TFIM

Have you heard this expression?  I am sure you have if you’re older than 30 or 40 years old. I like to abbreviate it: TFIM. We actually cannot have true mutual feelings because the degree of similarity to the emotions of the mind is as individual as a fingerprint.  But if we limit them to the named emotions like happiness, frustration, anger, depression, sadness and exhilaration then the expression: The feeling is mutual is close enough.

  1. You are absolutely right. Even the said mentioned emotions are different given the biochemical and physiological changes which occur as a matter of course. Consequently we are by nature different emotionally etc from each other as well as from ourselves. But what does TFIM mean. Is it I think I understand or I too have felt that way from time to time?

  2. TFIM means The feeling is mutual. I once was in the company of a dozen psychologists two years ago and as they were discussing the works of Adler made me realize that when someone says "I understand" they couldn't be further from the truth.
